Evaluation Question 3
What have you learnt from your audience feed back?
We have learnt from our audience feeback that although our music video and digi-pak were successful, there are many draw backs from our production that we could have taken into mind. Many people suggested that our video doesnt really involve a clear and fluent narrative that it should do. This is most probably because our video isn't that clear about what is happening in the narrative as there are many quick fast cuts in the video. Although people did suggest that the fast cuts were successful in creating a fast and fluent video which caught their eye when watching the video.
When commenting on our digi-pak, people suggested that the photos taken look 'really professional' and that the discolouration from black and white to colour works really well throughout the poster and digi-pak. Other people thought that from the photos being ' really professional ' that the whole digi-pak and poster looked really good and worked well together thus creating a well made and produced product, which they thought made up for the confusing and mis-leading video watched.

Evaluation Question 4
How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and evaluation changes?
When constructing our media video we used many elements of new media technologies to make our video successful and take aspects from real music videos that are viewed with high significance. Each group was given a semi-professional camera, xm2

, which was helpful by it made us being able to use the same equipment a real music video producer would use if they were making a music video. The edit suit also provided us with a high level of technology and professionalism so we could work to the best of our ability. Wide screen TV’s were present in the editing suite,

making it more clear and visible for each group to see their video and problems with it needing improvements. On the computers in the editing suite, Photoshop was installed which was extremely useful in editing the music video how we wanted it to be like. For example we used the editing on Photoshop to successfully produce our poster and digipak part of the task, which also included a 3 page CD cover.

We had to plan our music video and CD digipak, so we were given the task to create a blogger account. Blogger enabled us to write down every planning aspect including; spider diagram ideas for the video, lyric analysis, analysis’ of other music videos etc.Several other online websites including Myspace, You tube and Facebook were helpful in one, finding the band that we wanted to use and two, researching them to coincide with the making of the digipak and general information needed.

Myspace was helpful in choosing a specific song for the band we had chosen, You tube for audience feedback on the band a performances and Facebook was useful for information on the band, contacting them and pictures of them members.

Fan Interview
How did you discover and why do you like Briscott?
I have known Andy for several years now, from when he started out playing guitar and writing songs for fun and seriously. His music has over time improved lyrically and emotionally, using a wider range of subject and skills to make his music better.
Briscott’s music has inspirational values from such artists such as ‘Bright Eyes’ and ‘Jack Johnson’, which is why I like Briscott’s music especially as its original but with many inspirations.
What’s your favourite song?
My favourite song by Briscott is track 6 on the CD which is called ‘3 feet tall’. I especially like this song as it has a lot of meaning to it and emotional value about growing up as children and being still together as a couple when they’re older.

We have chosen to do a stop frame animation using fruit and vegetables. Therefore the characters we use must be loveable. After previously using fruit our group has experience of how to show emotions on small objects, we chose tomatoes because they come in small to large sizes and will be easy to draw on. When filming the couples we would prefer to use will be real couples as it will be a lot more believable, however we would need a lot of couples this could be a problem to find so many, therefore we could use people that actually know each other so there will be some connection between the two people.

Treatment
Artist: Briscott
SongTitle: 3ft tall music video.
Genre: Acoustic
Target audience: easy listeners 14-35
Narrative:
On a bench: A montage of series different young couples aged 16, dressed in casual clothing and looking their age in loved up situations e.g. holding hands, cuddling, just generally looking happy together on a bench for the duration of 30 seconds. Each couple will be filmed for 3 seconds each, we will have 10 couples who know each other or are actually in a relationship to make the scene more believable. This will be filmed in mid shots; every couple will be in the exact same place as the previous couple. So when the editing is finished it will come together as a montage. This montage is being used to amplify the lyrics of being happy in a relationship and feeling close to someone special.
Garden: This will be the first small introduction of stop motion, we will take pictures of growing tomatoes over a period of time in close up shots when all the images are played after one another it will show the tomatoes growing up in a garden gradually over time, this amplifies the lyrics of ‘we’ve been growing up in the same old town from 3ft tall some of us met eyes’,. The main point of this small clip of animation is to show the tomatoes getting larger throughout there growth focusing on them still being together, this would be harder to do with people as it would involve using children, as none of our group have younger siblings it will be to hard to find a cast.
On a bench: a similar shot of the previous montage, however we will use slightly older couples aged 18 to enforce the idea of growing older with someone else, this again will be for 3 seconds each however this will not last as long as the previous montage, we will aim for about ten seconds. As before these shots will be filmed in mid shot.
Bathroom: This is another short clip of the tomatoes however this will actually be recorded. A recorded shot of the fruit sailing in a boat in a bath. This is being filmed instead of photographed as it will be impossible to capture all the sharp movements that will be made when the boat is sailing. This will be filmed close up so the camera can focus on the expressions drawn onto the tomatoes, also when close up the audience will not be able to see our hands pushing the boat along the water.
On a bench: a similar shot of the previous montage, however we will use slightly older couples to enforce the idea of growing older with someone else, this again will be for 3 seconds each however this will not last as long as the previous montage, we will aim for about ten seconds. As before these shots will be filmed in mid shot.
White background room: This will be our second use of a small stop motion animation, using post cards we will create a small background for the tomatoes to stand in front of, the postcards will be of places in the north east south and west, this is to match the lyrics of ‘we’ve been north east south and west, wouldn’t think of anything less now’. The tomatoes will be seen with small props that will move, the props will be stereotypical items of which post card is behind them.
Park: Montage of couples on a swing we decided to use a swing as it has connotations of youth as we really want the lyrics to be amplified as much as possible it will be similar shot to the previous montage, however we will use slightly older couples to enforce the idea of growing older with someone else, this again will be for 3 seconds each however this will not last as long as the previous montage, we will aim for about ten seconds. As before these shots will be filmed in mid shot.
Park: Another small clip of stop motion, the tomatoes will be swinging on the swings. This has to photographed in a close up to hide our hands moving the corners of the swing. When all the images are put together the swing will look like its moving by its self.
Bench: back to more couples a similar shot of the previous montage, however we will use slightly older couples to enforce the idea of growing older with someone else, this again will be for 3 seconds each however this will not last as long as the previous montage, we will aim for about ten seconds. As before these shots will be filmed in mid shot. Again filmed in mid shot yet close enough to be able to recognise the people are getting older
Park: Here will will film people just playing on a film, as the song gets more emotional we are thinking of using black and white as it will resemble a flash back, this could be a flash back of the older couples shown in the montage, this will be filmed in wide shot to capture all the chaos of youth.
Bathroom: Stop motion images of a tomatoes one with a little towel round it this will be filmed in a close up.
White background room: again using post cards we will create a small background for the tomatoes to stand in front of, the postcards will be of places in the north east south and west, this is to match the lyrics of ‘we’ve been north east south and west, wouldn’t think of anything less now’. The tomatoes will be seen with small props that will move, the props will be stereotypical items of which post card is behind them.
White background: Close up of tomato ketchup being squirted into the name of the song and artist, a final close up on the title then fade to black.

Evaluation Question 1
In what ways do your media product use, develop or challenge the terms and conventions of a real music video?
Music videos have many codes, forms and conventions embedded throughout music videos. These include portraying the image of the artist, introducing characters in the narrative, using visuals to amplify the lyrics, lip syncing and making sure the video fits the genre of music as well as the pace or speed of the song used. When finished our media video our music video follows each convention of professional music videos for example the codes listed above and others not included. Andrew Goodwin was quote saying that a music video responds to the pleasure of music, making the music visual in a way that accentuates assisting associations. We analyse the relationship between moving image and the music in a video and comment on if it illustrates, amplifies or contradicts what’s happening on screen. Our final video illustrates what’s happening on screen and amplifies the song lyrics, in our narrative we used a male and female throughout, showing the time they spend together, holding hands and looking after each other etc. We developed the media convention of “introducing character in narrative” in my opinion by having a interpretation of the song lyrics that didn’t necessarily follow the lyrics but instead we created a story around them. The music lyrics and tone was considered when we shot the video and therefore we used a setting specify for the narrative that symbolised a quiet abstract setting, therefore amplifying the lyrics in the song. It could also be suggested that during the editing process, as we used slow dissolves, black and white effects and video transitions that made the action smooth paced this linked well due to the song being quite lively guitar playing but a soft voice made it slower in pace.
When comparing out music video to that of Jack Johnsons music video ' Better Together, it is clear that we used the same aspects in our music video which was produced by semi professional equipment to do so.
Aspects from both music videos include, soft slow paced editing which tie in with the lyrics and amplify the song, black and white effects are used to show the relationship between the couple throughout the song. It could be suggested that due to the same type of genre of both videos analysed and songs chosen, the pace of the videos should possibly be around the same which can be clearly shown throughout.
